Striper fishing has been good if you can get to your spot before the heavy fog moves in, the top water bite is still good using Z-Pops,Slim Dogs at the Splits, Big Ben Flats, Rose Valley, Christopher run and Jetts,Stubbs bridge all the way to Hunters Landing if you see the fish are deep are Lowrance ten fish with a 3/8 to 1/2 ounce XPS jig head with a 4 inch Soft and Salty shad and a 4 inch Boss shad, keep a 3/4 ounce Strata on hand just in case they want the spoon instead.

Bass fishing with a 3/16 to a 1/4 ounce Texas rigged watermelon/chart tail has been doing good on some good size bass around deep water drop off's,deep water brush piles, bridge aprons, the best spots have been Sturgeon creek, Contrary creek, Rose Valley and the North Anna section.

Surface water temps at the Damn are at 75 mid lake at 68 and the rivers are at 73.

Want to save some money on a new Nitro try Baltimore's Bass Pro Shops or stop by and check the tackle and prices at Bass Pro Shops and Sturgeon creek marina.

September 11, 2006

Top water action for stripers is lasting longer do to drop in water temp stripers are coming
up all through out the day so make sure you keep a Z- Pop and a Slim dog tied on for busting
stripers as they go down you should be able to locate them with the use of your Lowrance
colored sonar then vertical jig a 3/4 ounce Strata spoon or cast a deep diving blue and
chrome Extreme crank bait. Trolling an Extreme deep diving crank bait with a XPS buck tail
tied on has been working well in deep water in shallow water just run the Extreme crank bait,
best spots State Park, Splits and Rose Valley.

Most of the bass being caught are around boat docks by finesse fishing with a watermelon
Quiver Minnow or the XPS Creature bait. For shallow top water action around the grass edges
or bridge apron's use a Shadee shad soft jerk bait or XPS Twin Tail Shad. The extreme crank
baits are still catching quality bass on long tapering points, flats and humps.

Water temps have dropped to the lower and mid 70's so fish can cover a lot of territory.

Looking for some XPS tackle or a new Nitro boat go to Bass Pro in Baltimore and Sturgeon
creek marina for XPS tackle.

Striper fishing is still going strong, trolling Extreme deep diving crank baits in LEC-11,17,
37 colors are working well through out the day by trolling the river channels early in the
morning at Dike # 1, mouth of Sturgeon, Splits, Rose and Jetts Island as the sun gets
brighter try trolling the humps from the Splits, Rose Vallet,Jetts Island area's in 18 to
25 feet of water just watch your Colored Lowrance depth finder to find the fish on the
bottom if they want a slower moving bait try vertical jigging a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce Strata
spoon.

Bass fishing has been good with using 1/4 ounce Texas rig with 8 to 12 inch red shad
Squirmin worms on brush piles and rocks for fishing Lilly pads do not use any weights
at all the river systems are holding most of the bass for boat docks finesse fishing
with a XPS drop shot worm is still working, Extreme crank baits are in LEC 37 are also
working on sunken islands and humps in Pigeon creek, Christopher run, Terry's, at dark
try back in the feeder creeks with 3/8 ounce XPS Colorado gold blade spinner bait in
Chart/blue colored skirt or walk the dog with a XPS Slim Dog when the bass come in to
feed in the shallows the bite doesn't last long at all.

Water temps are running from 88 to 93 degrees.

Striper fishing has been very good using Top water Z- Pops, Slim dogs early in the morning.
3/4 ounce Strata spoons jigged in 30 to 40 feet of water, just use your colored Lowrance
sonar that will separate the fish from the bottom and start jigging in the stained water.
Use a 1/2 ounce in 15 feet or more hang on because you will end up catching walley, stripers,
bass, and cats. Trolling has been good from dike #1, Sturgeon, 208 bridge and the splits using
LEC 15 blue Extreme crank bait with or without a 1/4 to 3/8 XPS white bucktail,Blue and chart
-DD-22. Live bait has worked well on down rods from a depth of 24 to 30 feet around the mouth
of Sturgeon creek or just watch all the boats.

Bass fishing has been great using Stik-O watermelon baits with a chart tail on a 1/8 to 1/4
ounce Texas rig fished just about any where. 8 to 10 inch Bass Pro red worms have been doing
good on 1/4 to 5/16 ounce Texas rigs fished in deep water brush piles, for suspended bass try
a Strata spoon jigged over top of a school of bait fish.

If you're in the market for a new Nitro or some XPS/Bass Pro baits, go to Baltimore's Bass
pro shops and save a butch of money.Stugeon creek marina carries a lot of Bass Pro's fishing
tackle at some great prices also along with gas.

Bass fishing has still been good by casting Stik-O baits with 1/8 to 1/4 ounce Texas rigs
around boat docks and deep water drop off. Crank bait fishing has not been that good but
Texas rigged XPS Squirmin worm fished in deep water brush piles has picked up some bass.
You might even want to try a 1/2 ounce to 3/4 Strata spoon just bouncing it along the
bottom or even for suspended fish just watch your colored Lowrance depth finder when
you see the bait fish or fish on your Lowrance screen just fish your spoon at that depth
so for the Strata spoon has been the key for catching bass, stripers, walley, everything.
Fish seem to be all over do to the low pressure. Stripers-you can still catch them
trolling at Dike # 3 with Extreme crank baits, Red fin or try Sturgeons, Contrary creek,
mouth of Pigeons. Live bait has done very well for now but the water temp is up in the
80's so trolling or using a Strata spoon will more than likely be your best bet just
remember to use your colored Lowrance.Bass and stripers are starting to die very easy do
to the hot water so try and be careful with them.

If you're looking for some great deals on tackle or a new Nitro bass boat go to Baltimore's Bass Pro shops.

Bass are still eating the Stik-0 baits fished on 1/8 to 1/4 ounce Texas rigs along rip raps,
deep water drop off most people have a hard time figuring out the bite, but as soon as your
line gets tight set the hook. Drop shotting has worked very well using the XPS Quiver minnow
around boat docks along with a Carolina rigged XPS lizard fished along the grass beds, points,
humps.

Stripers are at the mouth of Sturgeon creek and in the back of Briggs way. Top water
Slim Dogs,Z-Pops,Red Fins watch for them breaking through out the day. Trolling for
stripers in the river channels has picked up by using Blue Extreme crank baits.

Water temp has shot up to the low to mid 80's.

If you're looking for a new Nitro boat and some good deals, go to
Baltimore's Bass Pro shops.

Bass fishing is still good. You can catch them in the shallows, pounding the banks early
in the morning and late evening using a 1/8 ounce Texas rigged watermelon Stik-O with the
tail dyed chart. Deep water brush piles in 18 to 25 have been good using the Laminated
Squirmin lizard in the water melon chart colors on Texas rigs and Carolina rigs. Go to page
330 in your Bass Pro catalog and learn how to rig the Shaky head and other rigs. When the
water temp gets in the 70's bass can cover a lot of territory.

Stripers are still at Splits, Rose Valley,Jetts Island, Stubs bridge area Top water bite
is still going on early in the morn and late evening using Top Knockers, Slim Dogs, Z- POPS,
Red Fins. Live bait has also worked well. Stripers will really turn on before the thunder
storms move in but use good sense.

Water temp is running from 68 in the morn to 72 mid day.

A majority of the female bass have spawned, but you'll still some stragglers. The buck bass
will be guarding the nest around boat docks, stump fields, and beaver huts. Finess fishing
seems to be the key, with light line tactics. Try using XPS drop shot worm and Quiver minnow.
The female bass will more than likely be close by, recuperating, and will come back and eat
her hatch when she's hungry enough. Texas rigged 8 inch BPS red tournament worms are working
well on post spawners in the brush piles and deep water drop offs. XPS deep water crank baits
are doing the trick on sunken islands and humps.

Stripers are still at Contrary Creek. The early morning and late evening bite is still on,
but it doesn't last long. Top water Slim dogs and Red Finns are still working, as is the
Splits, Jets Island, & Stubbs Bridge areas, as well.

If you're looking for a new Nitro, or some new tackle, try Baltimore's Bass Pro shops and
if you're looking to stay in shape while fishing, contact the Sport & Health Club at

Stripers are still active early in the morning and late evening. They are still hitting
XPS jerk baits, XPS blood series twin tail shad, Off Shore anglers salt/pepper/chart 4"
swim bait. The best locations are still from Holiday bridge to the 522 bridge. On the
North Anna side, try mouth of Plentiful Creek, Terry's run, S-turns, you should be able
to locate stripers in the deep river channels by using your color Lowrance sonar.

Bass fishing has been good from Sturgeon Creek to Dike # 3, just about every bedding
site you see, the bass have been plucked off their beds and let go at the marinas.
Finesse fishing with drop shot XPS Quiver minnow, Drop shot worm [make sure you dye
the tail chart] and the 4 inch XPS suspending has been working well on shallow water
bass around any kind of structure. Plus, try using some new, polarized world wide sportsman
sun glasses for site fishing. When you catch a bass on the beds try and just take a picture
and release the bass where you caught it.

Water temps are still running from 58 to 60 degree mark.
If you're in the market for a new Nitro, I can save you some money just go to Baltimore's
Bass Pro shops and tell them Glenn Briggs sent you. While you're there, check out the
new Pro lite Finesse rod and reel!

March 27, 2006

Bass fishing has been good considering last week's cold front moving in, which,
as you know, push bass into deeper waters. This week's warm up should put the bass
in the shallows making them easier to catch. Try using XPS Rattle shad, Tri Vibe in
2 to 6 feet of water in the upper rivers along with XPS suspending jerk baits when
using these baits. You will likely catch bass, stripers, walleyes and even big crappie
have been hitting them.

For bass that are staging along the deep water drop off and stump fields, try using
Lazer eye 1/4 ounce to 3/8 ounce spinner bait in white/chart or just plain white or
chart with gold Colorado blades. Bass in the brush piles, points, and stump fields
are starting to hit Carolina rigs with XPS Squirmin worm, Lizard and creature baits
in the blood series.

The best places seem to be in the back of all the major feeder creeks.

Stripers are still in the upper rivers in North Anna and the Pamunkey, the early morning
seems to be the best action using the XPS suspending jerk baits. The bite will taper
around 10.

Water temperature is running in the 49 to 55 degree range.

*Note, if you're still thinking about buying a new Nitro boat, please let me know
and I can help you save on your new Nitro at The Baltimore Bass Pro shops or
tell them Glenn sent you. I am now fishing on the warm side of the lake to only those
who own property. Bass fishing has been great using XPS suspending jerk baits on stripers
and bass at dike # 3. Bass have been hitting the Texas rigged Stik-O watermelon baits (no weight)
around points and stump fields along with 1/4 ounce Texas rigged Twin Tail worm.

Water temperature is running at 68 to 70 in Dike 1, 60 in Dike 2, and 55 in Dike 3.

Bass fishing has been good using XPS Suspending jerk baits on points and in the back bay coves.
If you hit the right cove with a school of bass in it, you should be able to catch some big females
running from 2 to 7 pounds. The trick to fishing a jerk bait is not to fish it too fast.
Stripers are from Sturgeon creek to the upper river channels. Stripers can be found
on the inside or outside channel bends, flats, points or surfacing on schools of shad
best bite has been early in the morning and late evening using suspending XPS jerk baits,
1/4 ounce XPS jig heads rigged with 4 inch Soft and Salty shad bodies, 3/8 XPS jig heads
with 4 inch pearl white Boss shad.

Water temp is running at 58 to 51.

If your in the market for a new Nitro boat, just mention my name to the sales man at
Baltimore's Bass Pro shops and don't forget to purchase some XPS tackle while you're there!

March 13, 2006

Bass fishing has been good from the power plant to the upper rivers, most of the big
in the back of the creeks bass are being caught in 3 feet of water or less using XPS
jerk baits. Best bet is to fish the main lake points leading in to the coves along with
secondary points. For fishing stump fields, try a 1/4 ounce to a 3/8 ounce white/chart
Colorado blade Lazer eye spinner bait with Cajon trailer. Stripers are located at Seay point,
Pigeon creek, upper rivers in North Anna and the Pamunkey rivers. XPS jerk baits and Soft
and Salty shad bodies are still doing the trick throughout the day, the stripers are moving
in the back of the coves feeding and moving out as the sun gets bright and the bass are
moving in as the stripers are leaving. This happening at in clear water as for fishing the
rivers system stripers are staying shallow do to stained water. Water temp is 58 in the
upper rivers and mid 50's mid lake.

*Note: If you're looking for a new Nitro boat, save by contacting me or go to
Baltimore's Bass Pro shops and mention my name for money off your new Nitro.
I am seeing more and more Nitros on the lake. Plus, while you're there. pick up
